8 Months

Today marks your 8 months in this crazy world!  You have been one busy monkey! You only sit still when you are sleeping…and even then you roll all around and get yourself all turned backwards. Even when you are sitting in your highchair, you cannot sit still…you are constantly moving and you almost catapulted yourself out of the highchair 2 days ago! You are quite the eater!  I am not sure where you put all of it…but your average dinner lately consists of oatmeal, an entire package of baby food puree, some banana and whatever else is near for you to eat (i.e. cheerios, puffs, yogurt drops)!  You have made it clear that you are not very fond of baby food. You want food that you can feed yourself. I would have to say that at this point in time, yogurt and toast are your favorite foods, but you really are not that picky of an eater. I have given you frozen peas and you just gobbled those up…and they come out barely digested!  So we are taking a break from them! You are starting to sleep better at night…now we can only hope that this trend will continue!  We just had our good friends, Jack, Carrie, Jaycee and Carsten, come and visit and you loved every minute with Jaycee and Carsten!  You move around the room, but you are not crawling yet!  You will get yourself up onto all four’s and rock back and forth so hard, I feel like you are going to break your nose one of these days!DSCN0156

7 months old

I know that I say this every month…but I can’t believe that 7 months have gone by since you joined us in this world!  It is been quite the whirl-wind and the greatest (and worst) 7 months of my life!  Hadley, you bring a smile to my face every day!  A day does not go by where you haven’t made me laugh! And that is the greatest joy of all! But let me tell you, the past month has been the toughest month since you were born. You have decided that you no longer want to sleep and that is where “the worst” comes into play. We have tried pretty much everything to try to get you to sleep through the night with no success!  We fed you, we didn’t feed you, we held you, we didn’t hold you-but patted you on the back, we shoved the pacifier in your mouth, I wrapped my nursing tank-top around a rice pack so my smell would be with you, put stuffed animals with you in the crib…ALL with NO SUCCESS!  And boy, let me tell you, your mommy NEEDS her sleep!  OH…and not to mention that we even tried to have you cry it out a few nights…4 hours of crying isn’t healthy…you are one stubborn girl (I wonder where you get that from?)!  So, we have now implemented a “schedule” for you in hopes that this will help. You now have set nap times at daycare (though this was the first day for it!) Smile

You continue to grow and develop right on track. You still are not crawling, and I am good with that! Our house is not ready for you to crawl. You are still pushing yourself backwards and get up on all four’s and rock back and forth. You are a little piggy when it comes to solid foods. You are content with what you are eating, but you look at what dad and I are eating and get a little upset that you aren’t eating that as well!  I really need to go and buy a grinder so you can start eating what we are eating.

You continue to be a huge HAM for the camera…and it is so dang cute!  You love to watch Maggie run and laugh and squeal at her. We have been pretty busy with some local travel and getting odds and ends done, and you have been such a good baby with all the chaos.

Henry-dog

On Sunday (4.29.2012) we lost a dear member of our family…Henry…and yes he is a dog. He was one of your first pets, Miss Hadley. Your mommy and daddy got Henry on their 2nd or 3rd date…so he had been with your mommy and daddy for almost 10 years. He was such a great companion and truly man’s (or woman’s) best friend. If there is one thing I can say about a pet…they will ALWAYS be loyal, listen when you need an ear and show you unconditional love, when no one else will. Are hearts are heavy and sad though also rejoicing that Henry can forever be doing everything he loved: sun-bathing on the boat, getting his belly cooled off in the snow, hunting mice, plucking pheasants out of the brush, exploring new hikes around the Gallatin valley, eating cinnamon rolls and the many millions of other great memories and laughs he gave your mommy and daddy. So here is our tribute: Henry you have forever made a lasting impression and set the bar high! We are going to miss you big fella! (I will update more photos of the handsome boy as I find them)

Growing up so fast!

Hadley you are growing up so fast!  I just love to watch you grow and explore the world and what it has to offer!  You are learning like crazy these days!  You are pushing yourself all over the place…but you go backwards!  Yesterday for the first time you waved…I didn’t quite believe it…so we practiced more today…and sure enough…you are waving!  We also had a fun tickle session tonight and your belly laughter just kills me!  I can’t get enough of your smile and laugh!  I love you to the moon and back!

6 months old! (and posting a few days late!)

Oh my!  Where has the time gone? Hadley, today you are 6 months old (04.12.12)!  I can’t believe how fast time has gone, and before we know it, you will be 12 months old and we will be celebrating your birthday! You bring so much joy to my life, I can’t imagine life without you! I continue to marvel at your growth and development. You are quite the mover and shaker. You are sitting up all on your own, pushing your self backwards on the floor, starting to scoot yourself forward on your bum and you are getting the crawling movements down. I bet you are crawling within the next 2 months!  Which is very scary…I have more work cut out for me to get the house crawl proof!  You love to “talk”! And do so with so much enthusiasm; we love to hear what you have to say. You are quite the “picky” eater. You definitely know when you want to eat and how much. There is no rhyme or reason to your madness. We will offer you solids and you will get so mad (yell, scream and turn your head away) so we won’t feed you. Then other times, we will offer you food and you will eat 1/2 to a whole container or more of food. And I can’t even contribute your eating pattern to a growth spurt (this occurs on a daily basis!) Your sleeping pattern is probably the most irritating thing to your father and I! You were doing so well and sleeping through the night or only waking up once….NOT ANYMORE!  You will sometimes still sleep through the night or wake up only once…AND YOU NEED To GO BACK TO DOING THIS!!!!  But more overly, you wake up, eat and then within an hour you are awake again-usually with some massive gas…and then even again sometimes for whatever reason! We are hoping that you will go back to your previous routine!

We have spent that past couple of weekends with the Munga and Pappa and the Conner’s (Easter and the Grizzly Peak Adventure Race in Red Lodge). You love to watch Meridian and boy does she make you laugh~it is so dang cute and fun to watch. And she sure takes good care of you, telling you “it’s ok, don’t cry.” I can’t wait for you guys to play together! You continue to be one happy baby-and yes your auntie Brooke and Munga still tell you that you need to cry more! Winking smile We spent Easter in Billings and had a wonderful day with Munga, Pappa, Auntie Brooke, Uncle Jeremy, and cousin’s Bohdan and Meridian. We also had a little video making fun that weekend for your Uncle Jason and Auntie Kelli- they think your mom and dad need to train for a marathon for this fall, and uncle Jason thinks that we should just throw you in a carrier and run with you (so check out the video below)!
